Most hobbyists under price their honey (by quite a lot too). The difference between selling your honey for cheap or for a premium is how effectively you’ve told your story. Interestingly here though, while its all about brand, its also about how authentic your product is and how that authenticity resonates with you customer. You can have schmick labels and sexy packaging, and whilst that appeals to some, you can be easily outsold by someone who’s product looks “truer” than yours. Honey is the 3rd most faked food product in the world, so that’s the mental picture in some people’s heads. Others just see it as a total commodity, cheaper is better. But if you want to make a profit there is one thing you need to know.

Know how much it really costs you

Legals, Licenses and Fees
Beehive Costs
Bee Costs
Transport Costs
Packaging and Labelling

Then it’s all just about making and monitoring how much you’re spending and how much you’re making.
